Can I work in the UK on a study visa?

Yes, you can work in UK on a study visa, but this shall be on a temporary basis and not a permanent one. You cannot even be self–employed or start your business in this case. As a Student on a full-time Student or Tier 4 visa, you are subject to certain restrictions like working for no more than 10 hours per week during term time.

This is when you pursue a below degree level which is a Foundation or Pre-Sessional course. If you are studying at a degree level then you can devote 20 hours per week in term-time. Just remember you cannot work in UK if you are a n a part-time Student Tier 4 visa, any type of visitor visa or a Short term study visa or even if you withdraw from the course due to unknown reasons

Do international students get scholarships in the UK?

Yes, overseas students can get UK scholarships. For this, they can check their eligibility by visiting the UKCISA (UK Council for International Student Affairs) website. There are many financial institutions that offer financial aid to overseas students.

Many of them even offer fully-funded postgraduate studentships. GREAT scholarships are a good way to secure scholarship if you are thinking of pursuing postgraduate degree in the UK. There are 300 GREAT scholarships which are there from 40 UK universities to international students across 15 countries.

How much does it cost to study in UK?

The fees for visa application is 348 GBP which is INR 35,834, for housing it is 500 GBP which is INR 51,486 on a monthly basis. For transportation the monthly expense is 150-200 GBP which INR 15,445 to INR 19,844 and food expense per month comes to 150-200 GBP that is INR 14,883 to INR 20,594.

When it comes to clothing and leisure monthly expense in UK amounts to 50 GBP which is INR 5,148 and Telephone and Mobile comes to the same as clothing. If you are staying in University halls of residence they generally cost anywhere $85 to $220 per week. It depends on the university which includes prices of internet connection, gym membership, content insurance, one’s own personal bathroom as well as catered meals.

How much bank balance is required for UK student visa?

To be able to apply for UK student visa you need to show that you have sufficient funds to support yourself unless you have been residing in the UK for a minimum of 12 months on the date of your application.

Can I study in UK without IELTS?

Yes, you can pursue studies in UK without language proficiency tests like IELTS if you apply to universities in UK which have alternate requirements such as having proof of scoring over 60% when in Class XI and XII.

Is medical test required for UK student visa?

If you are coming to the UK for more than 6 months and belong to the listed countries, you will need to undertake a tuberculosis (TB) test. You need to submit a chest x-ray to test for TB. If there is no clear result you can even be asked to give a sputum sample (phlegm coughed up from your lungs). If your tests indicate that you have TB then you shall be granted a certificate which is valid for 6 months from the date of your x-ray. You can include this certificate with your UK visa application.

What is CAS?

CAS means and stands for Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies. The rules of UK immigration need your University to sponsor your application for a UK student visa which is not the same as financial sponsorship.

The CAS number means having a confirmation an Unconditional offer of a place to study with the UK universities, and that this is your acceptance. The CAS number shall permit you to study in the UK. This shall be applied by the University to the UK government’s UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).
